Hungry for Azeroth? Now you can eat food and drink beverages mentioned in Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft.
World of Warcraft: The Official Cookbook, published by Simon & Schuster, has recipes for food inspired by the online game, like Honey-Spiced Lichen, Dragonbreath Chili, Sweet Potato Bread, Beer Basted Boar Ribs, and Ironforge Rations made with canned haggis. "Once I started researching for the cookbook, it was absolutely vital that I play the game, not just to explore the foods and ingredients, but to really get a sense of the world and the aesthetics involved," author Chelsea Monroe-Cassel told Geek & Sundry.
Of course, since boar ribs, dragons and spiders aren't available at the local grocery store or farmer's market, Monroe-Cassel found real-world ingredients for World of Warcraft chefs. Chimaerok Chops are made with lamb chops. Crunchy Spider Surprise uses crab.
You can also drink like World of Warcraft characters with beverage recipes for Greatfather's Winter Ale, Junglevine Wine, Winter Veil Egg Nog, Cherry Grog and Hearthglen Ambrosia.
This isn't the first cookbook Monroe-Cassel has penned using a fantasy world as the inspiration. She also wrote A Feast of Ice and Fire: The Official Game of Thrones Companion Cookbook in 2012.
