Hello, good evening and welcome to CNET's coverage of tonight's Apple launch. Everyone has been speculating on what Apple will reveal for months now, with the smart bets landing on a new tablet with a 7.85-inch screen and the smaller lightning port from the iPhone 5. We only have a short time to wait to find out if those predictions were true.

If you want to follow the announcement in real-time, our colleagues Scott Stein, Rich Brown and Josh Lowensohn will be live-blogging directly from the event in California over at CNET.com. Follow this link to stay updated with the latest pictures and announcements.

Apple will also be streaming the event to Macs, Apple TVs, iPhones and iPod touches, so head to this page if you want to watch it live. But be warned: watching these events streamed live is about as much fun as being poked in the eye repeatedly with a fork, so I'd go for the CNET blog if I were you. But then I would say that, wouldn't I?

Here at CNET UK, we'll be focusing on the British end of things, so keep checking this site for news on how tonight's launch will affect us, together with UK price and availability. Look out for previews and videos of all the products that are announced.

We'll also be posting UK-centric updates and asking for your reactions to the event on the CNET UK Facebook wall, so head over there and get involved if you want to participate.

Apple's event starts at 6pm in Britain, so while you're waiting for it to kick off, have a read of our iPad mini rumour roundup to find out exactly what we're expecting to see, watch the video below and let us know what you're expecting down in the comments.
