Watch this: Fallout 4 official debut trailer

Get your Pip-Boys and bottle caps ready, Fallout fans. The countdown timer is over and, as promised, Bethesda Softworks has revealed the next installment of its apocalyptically popular video game series -- Fallout 4.

Bethesda released a trailer for the hotly anticipated video game on Wednesday, showing off the locale for the game, a post-apocalyptic Boston (what's left of Massachusetts is known as The Commonwealth).

In the trailer, we get glimpses of the world both before and after the nuclear devastation as we follow a lost dog looking for its family. Like in previous Fallout games, players will assume the role of a resident in one of the many vaults that were designed to protect people from the effects of a nuclear war.

At some point in the early stages of the game, players will need to escape the vault -- Vault 111 -- and venture out into The Commonwealth and the surrounding Wasteland where you'll be greeted by some friendly faces and, let's face it, a lot more enemies who will stop at nothing to end your life.

Watch the trailer for Fallout 4 above. We should learn much more about the game -- which is coming to Microsoft's Xbox One, Sony's PlayStation 4 and PCs -- during Bethesda's E3 press conference on June 14, where it's expected to announce exactly when it can shut up and take our money.
