Vuze is a point-and-shoot 3D VR camera for $799 arriving in fall 2016

It has eight separate cameras in one compact body for capturing 360-degree video in 2D or 3D, and it does it all with the click of a button.

There have been so many 360-degree VR cameras announced in the last several months that, even if you've been paying attention, you may have missed the Vuze camera. The palm-sized box made its first public appearance at CES 2016 and was promoted as the "the world's first consumer, portable 360-degree 3D VR camera."

Around its sides are eight full-HD cameras that capture 180 degrees vertical and 120 degrees horizontal views that, when stitched together using the accompanying Vuze Studio desktop software, result in 360-degree 4K-resolution video in 3D. The software process in real time, too, taking 1 minute to render 1 minute of video.

The developers behind the Vuze, HumanEyes Technologies, said the camera will also capture 2D video better than competing models because it will use all eight cameras to do so and not just two or four. (The movie trailer below was shot with the camera.)

You can order a Vuze now for $799 (about AU$1,085 and £550), but it isn't expected to ship until fall. The company says payment won't be processed until it ships, but by ordering now you're securing the price and that you'll be among the first to receive a bundle that will include the Vuze camera and software, a VR headset, a selfie stick that converts into a tripod, a carrying case and a handgrip.
