In fact, budget offerings fared well on the\r\n list, as did mid-range models. Of the manufacturers, Dell was by\r\n far the most popular, snagging the top two spots.\r\n\r\n Got a notebook that you think could make our top 10 but can't\r\n find it on the website? \r\n Please leave your feedback and review suggestions here.\r\n\r\n Note: Results are based on readership statistics\r\n for each product.\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n Five most popular | \r\n Next five\r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n 1. \r\n\r\n \r\n Dell\r\n Inspiron 630m\r\n \r\n Dell's mid-range Inspiron 630m provides excellent value\r\n for money with a hearty system under its hood, a 14.1-inch\r\n widescreen display and the option of Windows Media\r\n Center.\r\n \r\n Reader Opinion\r\n This is a very nice looking notebook with a very bright\r\n screen as long as it is not reflecting any bright lights\r\n (this is the true bright version with the shiny screen).\r\n The battery lasts an amazingly long time and the keyboard\r\n feels great. I haven't yet been able to use the media\r\n controls with the lid closed but I have not really tried\r\n very hard to do this.\r\n Read\r\n review | \r\n See images | Rate\r\n this\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n 2. \r\n\r\n \r\n Dell\r\n Inspiron 9400\r\n \r\n Tricked out with the fastest mobile components\r\n available, the Inspiron 9400 is a true multimedia\r\n powerhouse. Be prepared to lay down a large chunk of cash,\r\n however.\r\n \r\n Reader Opinion\r\n As soon as i pulled this out of the box i new it was mean.\r\n There are no faults, event the battery life is awsome for\r\n something this size. after a month i could nearly get 3\r\n hours out of a charge. The graphics are great ran bf2 all\r\n on high. This is an all around machine.\r\n Read\r\n first take | \r\n See images | Rate\r\n this\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n 3. \r\n\r\n \r\n Toshiba\r\n M40\r\n \r\n The M40 boasts an impressive array of the latest\r\n notebook technologies, especially for those with a\r\n multimedia bent, although it could do with running a little\r\n quieter and cooler.\r\n \r\n Reader Opinion\r\n Awesome laptop\r\n Read\r\n review | \r\n See images | Rate\r\n this\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n 4. \r\n\r\n \r\n HP\r\n Compaq Presario B2823TX\r\n \r\n The glossy white casing is certainly unique. Though\r\n equipped with a dedicated graphics card on the previous\r\n Centrino chipset, the performance of this unit is\r\n unfortunately only average.\r\n \r\n Reader Opinion\r\n Absolutely good product to have the light weight with the\r\n optical and good performance notebook. The ATI graphic\r\n makes the movie and game vision real. The snow white cover\r\n makes it so special for a gift and stand out among the\r\n display set in the retail shop. It is always a dream to get\r\n a slim and sleek notebook for myself.\r\n Read\r\n review | \r\n See images | Rate\r\n this\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n 5. \r\n\r\n \r\n Apple\r\n MacBook Pro\r\n \r\n The MacBook Pro may give Apple bragging rights to the\r\n prettiest and most powerful laptop on the planet.\r\n \r\n Reader Opinion\r\n Is buying the MacBookPro akin to: (a) buying a new\r\n generation Boxster with last generation's design? So how\r\n can you tell the difference between a MacBookPro and a PB\r\n G4 akin to: (b) buying a Aston Martin Vanquish and seeing\r\n your neighbour driving the cheaper but similar design DB9\r\n or even worse Vantage V8? And go backwards in\r\n technology....no DL 8x SuperDrive or FW800 Will I still\r\n want one? Display not as bright as those \r\n\r\nmultimedia laptops, but excellent for regular use and top resolution as well. I upgraded from my Dell Inspiron 8500 and cannot tell you how much better this laptop \r\n\r\nis. Good for all functions (games and movies included), near full size keyboard, with an extra 1gb of memory (now \r\n\r\n1.5gb), this laptop can't be replaced, it is amazingly fast. HEAT PROBLEM is not a factor. One of the main reasons I \r\n\r\nbought a new computer was b\/c my Dell used to heat up to ridiculous amounts. This Asus does not heat up that much, \r\n\r\nbut the fan is noticeable when the laptop is in "Super Performance" mode. It does get warm, but it is nothing \r\n\r\ncomparable to my Dell with a similar video card. Also, on battery, this computer will not heat up because it will \r\n\r\nautomatically turn down the performance settings a little bit. OVERALL GRADE: 95, it would be perfect if it didn't \r\n\r\nheat up but that's almost not physically possible with such a good video card.\r\n\r\nRead review | \r\nSee images | \r\nRate this\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n8. \r\nToshiba Satellite Pro \r\n\r\nP100\r\nToshiba's Satellite Pro P100 is a competent multimedia workhorse that could easily replace most regular desktop \r\n\r\nPCs. It boasts powerful graphics and storage subsystems, while the Harmon\/Kardon integrated speaker set beats most \r\n\r\ncompeting offerings hands-down.\r\nReader Opinion\r\nAn awesome notebook. Amazing unit and well worth the extra amount for the features and portability. I took the \r\n\r\nlaptop to a customer site and worked on batteries for the entire day.\r\nRead review | \r\nSee images | \r\nRate this\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n10. \r\nAcer Aspire \r\n\r\n9504\r\nAcer's Aspire 9504 incorporates a lot of empowering technology, although its chief TV offering is rather \r\n\r\nweak.\r\nReader Opinion\r\nThis laptop has the power needed for work and gaming. The TV is not perfect but it is not possible to have a clear \r\n\r\npicture while travelling in the car etc. even with digital reception. The top of the range Alpine TFT deck with tv \r\n\r\nhas the same problem. picking up tv signals while moving is a common problem. Anyway it's an awesome laptop and well \r\n\r\nworth the money.\r\nRead review | \r\nSee images | \r\nRate this\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nFive most \r\n\r\npopular | \r\nNext five\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSign up to CNET.com.au's free weekly newsletters to keep you up to date with \r\n\r\nthe latest notebooks, mobile phones, gadgets, games and downloads.
