Now playing: Watch this: Surface Pro 3 aims to replace laptops -- and paper

In this episode of CNET Update, learn what makes the Surface Pro 3 tablet interesting. Microsoft says this third generation tablet is worthy of replacing a laptop. For one, it's easier to use on a lap with an improved kickstand and keyboard cover. But the included stylus pen also has an impressive click-to-unlock feature for jotting down notes immediately.

Microsoft will need to push these productivity perks to convince customers to spend $1,000 or more to get one with a keyboard. What we didn't hear about is the much-rumored 8-inch Surface Mini. Perhaps that will come another day.

And as Microsoft focuses on fixing the tablet, Google's latest software tries to fix the hassle of sharing photos online. The Google+ Stories feature will automatically sort through hundreds of vacation photos to weave them into an interactive photo album to share online.
