The title had been previously refused classification — effectively banning it in Australia — due to issues around illicit drug use as a gameplay mechanic.

The developer made some changes around the naming of substances in the game, describing it on its Facebook page as "Stimulants out! 'Supplements' in! Who could possibly not like vitamins!"

The changes were accepted by the board, which reclassified it on 11 July with the advisory notice of "high-impact violence".

State of Decay is available exclusively on Xbox Live Arcade, although no confirmation of an Australia release date has been given by Microsoft.
