When discovering the benefits of having a food processor, one of the first realizations is the simple fact that it should have been purchased a long time ago. That is because food processors are incredible time-savers. As the RPMs ratchet up, the blades spin and whatever needs slicing or chopping is reduced to the desired consistency in seconds. It all happens so fast there almost isn't enough time to consider how much time cumulatively would have been saved if the purchase had been made a long time ago. Almost.

One of the first things that new food processor owners discover is how much more the machine can do than simply pulverize ingredients. Since attachments are the name of the game, the Breville BFP800XL Sous Chef comes with a set complete with a storage case. Included along with the familiar S blade are an emulsifying disc, an adjustable slicing disc, a dull kneading blade, a julienne disc, a French fry cutter, and a reversible shredding disc. For smaller jobs, a miniature work bowl is included that fits inside the large work bowl.

Convenience is inherent in the ability to swap out the right cutting disc or blade for the job, but the food processor also includes an extra-wide chute for easy feeding. The 5.5-inch-wide opening makes it easy to add ingredients on the fly, from pouring in olive oil to simply dropping in large chunks of prepped fruits and vegetables. Of course, with all this convenient time-saving going on, new owners might be tempted to try new things, and hence spend more time in the kitchen--but at least there will be a lot of delicious food to eat.
