Samsung Galaxy Tab sequel is 10-inch Windows 7 slider named Gloria
Like to tell you 'bout my baby, you know she comes around, just 'bout 10 inches from her head to the ground... and her name is G... L... O... R... I... A... It's the Samsung Gloria and it runs Windows 7.
Like to tell you 'bout my baby, you know she comes around, just 'bout 10 inches from her head to the ground... and her name is G... L... O... R... I... A... Samsung Gloria.
Details are emerging of a forthcoming Samsung tablet, codenamed Gloria. Could it be named after the song sung by Van Morrison, the 1980 John Cassavetes film, or someone at Samsung's cat?
Wherever the name comes from, French site Blogeee reports the Gloria will run Microsoft's Windows 7. It's also set to be a 10-inch tablet, making it a direct competitor with the Apple iPad. The 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab, released last month, runs Google's Android operating system.
The Gloria is also reported to feature a sliding Qwerty keyboard, which will make it thicker and heavier than an iPad. The image above is a mock-up that suggests what Gloria could look like.
Samsung has been making Windows tablets since back when they were called ultra-mobile PCs. Remember the Samsung Q1 Ultra? The advantage of Windows 7 is that it's been engineered with touchscreens in mind, whether on a mobile device or an all in one PC.
Would you buy a Windows 7 tablet? Is that slide-out keyboard a good idea? Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
There's no word on prices or availability, but with trade shows CES in January and Mobile World Congress in February, Gloria could make her debut early next year. In the meantime, we're gonna shout it all night: Gloria! Gonna shout it every day: Gloria!
