ReddX, the Reddit app for Xbox One, available now

With the new app, Xbox One owners will be able to see Reddit from their TV and communicate with each other as they would on the standard Web interface.

The Xbox One is slowly but surely adding "entertainment experiences," and the latest in the bunch is a new Reddit feature that will enable users to communicate with the service.

Rolling out to the Xbox One on Tuesday, the ReddX app will allow Reddit users to check out what's happening on the site and communicate with others from their Xbox One. Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb announced the news on Monday, saying that users can quickly tap over to ReddX while gaming, or simply boot up their console to see what's happening on the site.

ReddX, available to Xbox Live users in the US and Canada, includes support for both subreddits (sub-communities) and the main page. Users can "upvote" or "downvote" different items and comment from the console. Images can also be saved, according to Hryb.

Microsoft announced in June that it was beefing up the ancillary services that would be available on its Xbox One console. The company said that over 45 entertainment apps would be made available to gamers, and ReddX is one of them. Twitter, Vine, Comedy Central, and HBO Go were also part of that group.

Since the device's launch last year, Microsoft has tried to position the Xbox One as more than just a game console. Users also have the ability to buy multimedia content through Xbox Live and can access other apps.

CNET has contacted Microsoft for comment on the update. We will update this story when we have more information.
