Raygun-shaped Atomic Trimmer prunes your nose and ear hairs

Tame your nostril tendrils with the coolest-looking personal hair trimmer ever created.

You don't want to spend hours and hours on your cosplay for the local convention and then show up with unwanted ear and nose hairs visible. Unless you're going as Chewbacca, you might want to invest in a personal hair trimmer. And because you're an awesome geek, you'll want that trimmer to look like a retro sci-fi raygun.

The Atomic Trimmer from Fred & Friends will really stand out in your bathroom cabinet. It's bright red and looks like something Buck Rogers might carry. A stylized atomic symbol on the side completes the look.

Trimming the stray hairs emanating from your nostrils and ears is probably not your idea of a good time. It's more of a chore. At least the Atomic Trimmer brings a sense of fun to the task.

Fred & Friends says the stainless-steel blades are "safe to touch" and are housed in sturdy ABS plastic. It runs on a single AA battery and sells for $20 (about £14, AU$26).

One word of caution on the use of the trimmer. You'll probably want to keep it private so you don't have to answer any awkward questions about why you're shoving a raygun up your schnoz.

The trimmer is the work of UK designers Blue Sky Studios, creators of a UFO USB light and a Stormtrooper-head Bluetooth speaker, both of which speak to the company's geek cred. Fred & Friends doesn't ship to the UK or Australia, but it has distributors in both countries and the raygun-shaped trimmer should be available soon in those locations.
