Is the photographic war finally over? No, we're not talking about the Canon-Nikon stoush, we're talking storage media.
Today Olympus announced a range of new compact cameras that feature SD cards as the storage medium of choice rather than the slow and cumbersome xD format. We should have guessed, really, given that the Pen E-P1 released in 2009 was the first Olympus camera to use SD cards. It comes as even more of a shock that Sony also announced a range of new Cyber-shot cameras with SD card compatibility.
The new range includes cameras that are updates to the tried-and-tested Tough series (Mju Tough 3000) and the compact zoom Mju series (Mju 9010 and 5010).
All of the new cameras feature HD recording, built-in memory (either 1GB or 2GB) and a 2.7-inch screen. In addition, the Tough 3000 has a 12-megapixel sensor, and the Mju 9010 and 5010 feature a 14-megapixel sensor.
