Nikon D3300 new entry-level dSLR costs £500

Nikon has unveiled a new dSLR camera for beginners, the Nikon D3300, available in a few weeks and costing £500.

The D3300 is a 24.2-megapixel entry-level dSLR that shoots up to 5 frames per second, or Full HD video at 50p or 60p.

Weighing 410g -- that's without the battery, mind -- the D3300 sports a stereo mic and 3-inch LCD screen as well as an optical viewfinder, and it comes in black, red or grey.

If you're new to dSLRs, the camera has a Guide Mode that walks you through the basics, helping you learn how to take advantage of the extra controls a dSLR gives you.

The D3300 costs £499.99 or £599.99 with an 18-55VRII kit lens, and it's on sale on 6 February.
