New EDS chief exits Dell board
Dell director Michael Jordan, the newly appointed chief executive for Electronic Data Systems, steps down from the PC maker's board, citing the demands of his new position.
Jordan, who was a Dell director for more than 10 years, resigned citing the demands of his new position at EDS, according to Dell. Jordan joined EDS last month after the company ousted former CEO Dick Brown.
Jordan is likely to have his hands full in his new role. When Brown stepped down, EDS made reference to problems that severely hurt the company in the last few months of Brown's tenure. The problems include an earnings warning in September and a formal Securities and Exchange Commission probe into the earnings warning and stock-hedging activity.
With Jordan's departure, the Dell board of directors now has 10 members. There are no current plans to replace him as a director.
