My Internet gets plastered

So that's that. No email. No Internet. I suppose I should be cross, but it's actually bliss, to be honest. When I go home, I have all the excuse I need to have a bit of a sit

Hello there, I'm the new Reviews Editor, and this is my first blog about my gadget life at CNET.co.uk. It's been a manic few days, as I've been juggling the twin demands of this new gig and the mess created by the plasterers at home.

They've been re-doing the kitchen, covering up the horrid luminous blue tongue-and-groove the last owner slapped up there in the '70s. It was all going so well, until I realised that I'd lost my broadband. And my phone line.

"What have you done?" I yelled.

"Nothing," replied the chief master craftsman.

Turns out that it was far from nothing -- they'd chopped off one of the phone points because "it looked nicer". Strangely, that wasn't what killed the phone line -- it was the moisture in the plaster on the bare wire shorting the circuit. There's not much I can do until it dries in three days or so.

So that's that. No email. No Internet. I suppose I should be cross, but it's actually bliss, to be honest. When I go home, I have all the excuse I need to have a bit of a sit and a glass of something warming.

I'll let you know if I ever, ever, ever get online again...
