Kitchen appliances seem to add more functionality every time you turn around. In fact, considering the amount of connected appliances that keep appearing, one doesn't even have to turn around; your updates will appear in the notification panel. Having appliances that talk to each other (as well as to your smartphone) will continue to trend as evidenced by this year's crop of smart appliances at CES 2014. But sometimes, they up the ante the old-fashioned way -- by piling on more features.

This is the third-generation of the multicooker from Canadian company Double Insight Inc. The new device comes with 14 built-in programs for automatic cooking. The nice part is the ability to customize them to your needs. For example, the pressure cooker can cook either on a low or high setting, while the saute function can be used at three different temperatures. But don't worry, modern people, the new multicooker may embrace multiple cooking modes as a way to add value, but that doesn't mean it's doomed to the past -- in fact, a Bluetooth-enabled version was just introduced at CES 2014.
