HP debuts new 'Livestrong' laptop

The HP Special Edition L2000 Notebook will sport the Livestrong logo, along with a copy of Armstrong's autograph on the keyboard, the companies said. The 64-bit notebook, expected to be available in June, is powered by AMD's Turion 64 and features enhanced battery life.
HP said it will contribute $50 to the foundation from each new notebook sold. AMD has committed to generate a minimum of $4 million for the LAF from this initiative over two years. In addition, HP will include a popular yellow Livestrong wristband, to be packaged with yellow stereo ear buds with every notebook. The new notebooks also will be donated to LAF-funded cancer survivorship centers in the United States.
The funds will support LAF's activities, which include advocacy, research and education, the companies said. The foundation is run by Armstrong, a cancer survivor and champion Tour de France cyclist.
"We are inspired by Lance's perseverance to overcome great odds, and impressed by his ability to effectively employ the power of technology," Henri Richard, chief sales and marketing officer at AMD, said in a statement.
