Get the toaster off the counter

With its retractable cord, the Black & Decker 4-Slice Toaster is easier to store than its counterparts.

The Black & Decker 4-Slice Toaster
The Black & Decker 4-Slice Toaster Black & Decker

I don't have a lot of counter space in my kitchen. My toaster spends most of its time on a shelf. If it's not toasting, it's put away. I don't mind this arrangement, but I think toasters could be a little easier to store. The Black & Decker 4-Slice Toaster seems to have a similar thought behind its design. Not only is it an attractive toaster--stainless steel with black accents--but it's square enough that it won't take up a disproportionate section of the shelf, and its cord retracts so you don't even have to think about trying to get it wound up.

The Black & Decker 4-Slice Toaster has two sets of independent controls, as well as a bagel setting, letting you toast to your heart's content. The toaster can also defrost and reheat, and it offers an auto-eject removable crumb tray that allows for easy cleanup (a must if you're moving your toaster back and forth from a shelf). Black & Decker also makes the 2-Slice model: it's about half the size of the 4-Slice Toaster but has the same control system, retractable cord, and other features. The Black & Decker 4-Slice Toaster is $39.99.
