Usually when I see a laptop selling for $400, it comes with a seriously pokey Celeron or Sempron processor. Not so today.

Today only, TigerDirect has an HP 625 XT957UT 15.6-inch laptop for $399.99 (after applying coupon code RAZ13810 at checkout). Shipping adds about $8 to your final cost.

The HP 625 starts with a dual-core AMD Turion II P540 2.4GHz processor, which should help you whip through everyday computing chores.

It comes with 2GB of RAM (there's an open memory slot if you want to drop in a second 2GB module), a 250GB hard drive, and a 15.6-inch screen with a 1,366x768 pixel native resolution.

You also get the obligatory DVD burner, 802.11n Wi-Fi, and an impressive 2-megapixel Webcam. Because it's a new system, it's backed by a full one-year warranty from HP.

I think my only gripe with the 625 is that it comes with the 32-bit version of Windows 7 Professional. Granted, not many users reap the benefits of 64-bit Windows anyway, but I still prefer to have the faster of the two operating systems.

That aside, this is a lot of laptop for the money.

Bonus deal: For what promises to be a very limited time (the code expires after 800 uses), Meritline has a 5-foot HDMI cable for 99 cents shipped (with coupon code MLCK192426120374NL1). Given that it ships from China (and takes 2-3 weeks), I honestly don't know how they can offer that deal. Even the regular price of $3.85 is an amazing bargain.
