Fresher bananas, longer

Bananas are a favorite in my house, but the longer I have a particular banana on the counter, the less appealing it looks. The Banana Split, from Umbra, keeps bananas off of counters, eliminating the contact with a hard surface that can bruise a banana. A bunch of bananas can hang from the Banana Split--they'll be up and out of the way. While it may look like it requires a balancing act, a bunch of bananas simply sits on the holder. You won't have a problem--at least until you get down to just one banana. The designer, Jason Nip, used yellow and cream-colored plastic to create a storage option that seems to be part banana itself.

The arm of the Banana Split folds into the base so when you don't have any bananas, it will fit in a drawer. When it's folded, the Banana Split measures 12.5 inches by 5.5 inches. When it's in use, it's 12.5 inches by 10 inches. While it takes up a little space on your counter, it isn't much more than a bunch of bananas would typically require--and it keeps your bananas fresher and more appealing. The Banana Split is $16.
