This handy site catalogs some 35,000 free e-books for your Kindle app or e-reader.
E-books are all kinds of awesome. E-book prices? Not so much.
That's why I'm always on the lookout for freebies, relying on sites like Hundred Zeros to help me find gratis reading for my Kindle.
Lately I've been exploring another source: Freebook Sifter, a new site that lists over 35,000 no-cost books available from Amazon. It's not the prettiest site I've ever seen -- all links and text, no cover art or images -- but it definitely delivers on its promise.
When you first visit the site, you'll see a random listing of books from its dozens of different categories -- music, for example, or suspense. They're sorted by the number of ratings they have, though you can also click the Avg. Stars column to sort by books with the highest rating.
You can search Freebook Sifter ("Twain," anyone?) or browse the couple of dozen primary categories listed on the left. The latest giveaways can be found in Added Today, which itself leads to roughly the same number of sub-categories.
Clicking any book title takes you straight to its Amazon listing page (in a new tab, thankfully), where you can get more information and/or "buy" it immediately.
Needless to say, you don't need to own a Kindle in order to enjoy these freebies -- you simply need any smartphone or tablet that can run the Kindle app (which is most of them). You can read on your PC as well.
Have you found a better source for Kindle freebies? Tell me about it in the comments!
