David Tarasenko is the first person in the world to throw down cash for the new iPad, having bought Apple's latest tablet at a midnight launch in Sydney.
The new iPad isn't on sale here in the UK until tomorrow, but thanks to the magic of time zones, in Australia tomorrow has already happened. Being 10 hours ahead, it's today, in fact. What I mean is, down under, it's tomorrow today. My head hurts.
34-year-old Tarasenko is a construction manager, the Financial Post reports. "When Tim Cook announced it, it sounded like such a magical tool. I just got hyped into it, I guess," he said.

David pulled out all the stops, snagging himself the white 64GB Wi-Fi + 4G model. And he did it all with a rosy grin and a cool hat. Presumably by now he's fast asleep, cradling his new toy and looking forward to a weekend of high-resolution hijinks.
The version David bought will cost you a whopping £659 if you want to buy it in Britain. Interestingly that's the version that Tesco mistakenly listed online with a retail price of under fifty quid. The supermarket has decided not to honour that accidental offer though. Spoilsport.
