Brixo brings Internet of Things to Lego

Lego-compatible building blocks are embedded with sensors and electronics so that you can build app-controlled IFTTT projects.

Lego has its own Mindstorms kits for building robotics projects, but Brixo wants to give you a lot more creative freedom.

Brixo is a series of Lego-compatible bricks that perform various functions so that you can design and build your own projects. There are three types of bricks: chrome-coated connector blocks that connect and close circuits; trigger blocks that contain Bluetooth, sound, light and proximity sensors; and action blocks, which contain LEDs or motors to perform actions when triggered.

You can back the project on Kickstarter, where it has collected over $400,000 of its $50,000 target, with 15 days remaining. A minimum pledge of $35 will get you the starter kit, with an estimated delivery date of October this year.
