Today (August 4) is the final day of Best Buy's. That means it's your last chance to take advantage of discounts on some spectacular price cuts on a wide array of devices, including hardware from Amazon, Apple, Samsung, Sony and more. And unlike some sales, these Best Buy prices are largely unmatched at competing retailers. That means you can get (for instance) Echo speakers, Fire TV streaming devices and Fire tablets at prices lower than you'll find at Amazon right now. In fact, in many cases, these are the Prime Day sale prices that were available at Amazon last month.
There are also some nice deals on Apple MacBooks and watches. And headphones from Beats and Sony, TVs from Samsung and Toshiba, Bluetooth speakers, home theater gear and lots of laptops. We've identified some of our favorite deals below. But don't delay: The sale ends today. (Usually, Best Buy online sale prices end at 11:59 p.m. CT -- that's basically 1 a.m. ET, 10 p.m. PT.)
Note that CNET may get a share of revenue from the sale of the products featured on this page.
Amazon ran a similar deal on this TV earlier this year -- and it didn't last long. Like Roku TVs, a Fire TV comes with lots of streaming apps: Netflix, Hulu, HBO and YouTube. You also get the benefit of an Alexa-enabled remote, so you can just tell the TV which channel or show you want. The screen itself tops out at 720p, or a 1,366x768-pixel resolution. This means it's not ideally suited for computer use. But don't let that "low" resolution dissuade you: At this size, 1080p isn't really necessary to enjoy HD goodness.
This is Ultimate Ears' original Wonderboom Bluetooth speaker, which sounds good for its compact size is also waterproof. The company recently launched the Wonderboom 2, which is a touch bigger than the original and sounds slightly better. But the OG is solid in its own right, and this is a really good price.
The Beats Solo3 Wireless headphones are well-built, relatively comfortable to wear and have best-in-class battery life. They're just too expensive. Except when they're on sale for $160, like they are right now at Best Buy. Then, they're just great.
This beefy configuration of the Surface Pro -- which comes with an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD and the essential Type Cover keyboard -- would cost you nearly $1,300 retail. Best Buy has the whole enchilada for $1,000.
And there's also a deal on the 2017 version of the Surface Pro, which features lesser components (but which also comes with the Type Cover), for the low, low price of $600.
We liked the Acer Nitro 5 at its original price -- this is an even better deal on a laptop that combines excellent mobile gaming performance and a wallet-friendly price. You get an Intel Core i5 CPU, 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD and Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card, which is powerful enough to play current games at medium to high detail settings at the laptop display's full 1,920x1,080-pixel resolution.
This is a $100 discount on the brand new MacBook Air -- the one with the Retina True Tone display -- that Apple released a few weeks ago. That's a solid deal. But here's an even better one: the 2018 MacBook Air, which is almost identical, selling at Amazon for $950.
This is a worthwhile discount on what's, in my opinion, the coolest edition of the Apple Watch. That's the Nike Plus Series 3, with GPS and Cellular, for $279 (38mm) and $309 (42mm). (Note that the non-Nike version is also on sale for the same price.) The Nike Plus features include custom watch faces, the appealing Nike sports band and total integration with the Nike Plus Run Club app.
The new Sony WH-XB900N headphones -- which we love -- are the successor to the older, less expensive MDR-XB950N1, currently on sale today at Best Buy. They both have a similar design to our top pick, the WH-1000XM3, but without all of that model's premium touches. And, for better -- or worse, depending on your audio tastes -- the XB905N1 are heavy on the bass, as its Extra Bass name implies.
We often see $10 or $15 discounts on Amazon's entry-level tablet -- $20 is something special. This model is very similar to the 2017 version -- it looks identical except for some new color options -- but it's got some small upgrades on the inside, namely a "faster" processor, according to Amazon, and a bump in the base storage from 8GB to 16GB, with a microSD expansion slot that lets you add up to 512GB of additional storage.
Snuggled between the regular iPad and the iPad 11-inch Pro, the iPad Air features a 10.5-inch Retina display, the same A12 Bionic processor used in the iPhone XS, and it supports the original Apple Pencil.
Amazon's pint-size smart speaker sounds great, provides easy access to the Alexa virtual assistant and was already a solid deal at $50. Nearly $30 off that already-low price makes this one a no-brainer.
Straight up: This is about as low a price as you can expect to find for Amazon's full-size second-gen Echo smart speaker. Total steal.
