Be the Wolverine on Kinect gives you X-Men claws

Step inside the ninja-slashing action of new film The Wolverine with a new Kinect experience coming to cinemas and malls near you.

Wolverine is putting the 'snikt!' in Kinect. To celebrate the errant X-Man's return to the big screen, you can step inside the action of The Wolverine when you head to the cinema.

Like the recent Iron Man immersive experience, 'Be the Wolverine' is a booth in cinemas and shopping centres that uses Microsoft's Kinect cameras to record your movements, allowing you to fight off ninjas atop a speeding bullet train.

Hugh Jackman once again dons the improbable coiffure, rampant facial furniture and stabby adamantium bits in The Wolverine. Directed by James Mangold, The Wolverine is set in Japan, after the events of X-Men: The Last Stand. Let's hope it's a cut above dodgy 2009 prequel X-Men Origins: Wolverine, as the ol' Canucklehead takes on assorted wrong'uns without the benefit of his mutant healing powers.

It's not the first use of technology for the ex-X-Man's latest outing: the film debuted a trailer on Twitter's 6-second video service Vine, cut faster than a henchman on the wrong end of Wolverine's claws:

The Wolverine isn't the only big-screen return for Marvel's magic mutants: X-Men: Days of Future Past unites the cast of Bryan Singer's earlier X-Men movies, including Patrick Stewart, with their younger versions from X-Men: First Class, including James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. With Singer back in the director's chair, Days of Future Past is out in May 2014.

The Wolverine hits cinemas in the US and UK on 26 July. Are you excited about Wolverine's return? What blockbusters have you enjoyed lately, or have comic-book movies like Man of Steel had their day?
