The Boskke Sky Planter is a clever way to keep fresh herbs always on hand. The upside-down planter requires little attention to maintain.
Fresh herbs raining down upon a freshly prepared meal is a sight to behold. This is not necessarily because of the visual aspect of it, but more so because of the knowledge that deliciousness will soon follow. A sprinkling of freshly chopped herbs added to a meal can enhance and brighten the flavor. But let's go back to that imagery of fresh herbs raining down from the sky: turns out there's a way to make that into an everyday reality.
The Boskke Sky Planter ($19.99) takes the herb garden off of the ground and puts it on the ceiling. Not only do the space-utilizing planters keep things neat and tidy on kitchen countertops, but they also provide a fresh bounty of herbs whenever they are needed. (Not to mention out of reach of curious pets.)
The planter hangs from the ceiling and keeps plants in place with a locking disc as well as a plastic mesh that can be cut to size. Watering is achieved from the top of the device, saturating a porous ceramic reservoir that gradually releases water into the soil. The result is a nifty herb garden that is always within reach.
The company also recently announced the Boskke Cube ($19.95-$49.95), which brings the herb garden back down to earth, but adds a twist in that the planter is transparent. A large water reservoir and a similar watering mechanism allow the new clear planters to host an herb garden with a minimum of attention -- although whether hanging from the ceiling or sitting on the counter, these new planters will be hard to ignore.
