Acer taps AMD's Turion processor

Acer America will become one of the first brand name PC makers to offer AMD's Turion 64 processor in a notebook.

The Aspire 5000 will pair the Turion with 15-inch or 15.4-inch screens, while the 5020 will offer more in the way of multimedia features, including a DVD burner and S-Video out, allowing it to show movies on a television screen. The Aspire 5000 will come out later this month, while the 5020 will arrive in late April. Pricing for the machines has not yet been set, Acer said in a statement.
