Acer debuts new gaming PCs with VR support and a powerful 2-in-1 laptop

The company also showed off a new smartphone and fitness devices set to arrive later this year.

Acer introduced a range of new products on Thursday at a press event in New York City. The Taiwanese electronics company announced a variety of gaming products, a high-end 2-in-1 notebook, an enterprise-level Chromebook and more.

Beyond computers, Acer also highlighted a new smartphone and a range of health and fitness devices, including a GPS-equipped biking computer with a built-in camera.

Switch Alpha 12

The Switch Alpha 12 is a 2-in-1 laptop with a kickstand and an included detachable keyboard. Acer has said that it is the world's first fanless two-in-one laptop, which means it should be extremely quiet. To achieve this, the Alpha 12 utilizes liquid cooling. Other specs include a sixth-generation Intel Core processor, more commonly known by the code name Skylake, and a 12-inch display with a 2,160x1,440-pixel resolution.

Predator 17X gaming notebook

The Predator 17X is a high-end gaming laptop with a sixth-generation Intel Core processor that supports overclocking and a desktop-grade Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 graphics card. The system has a triple-fan cooling system.

Predator G1 gaming desktop

The Predator G1 is a compact gaming desktop with a full-size Nvidia GeForce GTX graphic card (customizable up to Titan X), a sixth-generation Intel Core processor and up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM. Acer was also quick to point out that the Predator G1 support virtual-reality devices like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

Chromebook 14 for Work

The new Chromebook 14 features an Intel Core processor and can achieve up to 12 hours of battery life. It's also incredibly durable. The case is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, the keyboard is "spill-resistant," and it adheres to military standards to withstand drops of up to 48 inches.

Xplova X5 bike computer

The Xplova X5 is equipped with GPS to measure speed and distance. It's also the first bike computer to include a built-in camera, which turns on automatically at preset speeds and heart rate levels (when wearing a chest strap), and during various preset segments of your ride, such as a dangerous turn or when passing a picture-worthy landmark.

Liquid Leap Fit

The latest fitness tracker from Acer is the Liquid Leap Fit. The wrist-worn tracker can measure steps, distance calories burned and sleep. It features a smart coaching system to provide personalized feedback and is equipped with an optical heart-rate sensor that will continuously measures your beats per minute. Battery life is said to be double that of previous Leap trackers, which should be around 10 days.

Liquid Zest Plus

The Zest Plus is a midrange smartphone with a massive 5,000mAh battery that will provide up to two days of usage. It also features a 5.5-inch display and a 13-megapixel rear camera with laser focus, face detection autofocus and contrast detection auto focus. The Zest Plus will arrive later this year for under $250 in the US.

S 13 laptop

The S 13 is a slim and lightweight (only 3.13 pounds) Windows laptop. It is equipped with a sixth-generation Intel Core processor, features a Full HD IPS display with an optional touch screen and offers up to 13 hours of battery life. The S 13 has a starting price of $699 in the US.

R 15 convertible laptop

The R 15 is a thin convertible laptop that features a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display, a sixth-generation Intel Core processor, up to 12GB of DDR4 RAM and an Nvidia GeForce graphics cards (configurable up to the GeForce 940MX).

Acer Predator Z1 Monitor

The Predator Z1 is a series of curved gaming monitors with Nvidia's G-Sync technology built-in. The monitor will be available in a variety of sizes, including 27 inches, 30 inches and 31.5 inches, the latter of which supports a 21:9 aspect ratio for an ultra-wide view.
