Tibco Software has licensed its business integration software to two large European technology companies, marking another win for the applications maker.

Palo Alto, Calif.-based Tibco on Tuesday announced its contracts with Elcoteq Network, a network equipment manufacturer in Sweden, and Eurotel, a leading telecommunications services company in the Czech Republic. Financial details of the transactions were not available.

Elcoteq, which supplies Ericsson and Nokia with wireless communications equipment, is using Tibco's software to tie together separate computer systems the company uses to design, produce and deliver its products. The company expects the software to help it communicate with partners and customers more efficiently and to reduce errors.

Eurotel, which sells mobile phone services and prepaid phone cards to consumers, is using Tibco's technology to link its billing systems with customer service and service provisioning applications. The company expects that the project will help it cut costs and sign up new customers.

Tibco, which reported that it more than doubled profits in the quarter ended Nov. 30, has struck a number of deals in Europe recently, including sales to the Austrian government, Virgin Mobile in the United Kingdom, and Lufthansa Cargo, a subsidiary of the German national airline. The company competes with IBM, WebMethods, and Vitria in the market for application integration software.
