Play that funky music, second missed SpaceX landing

For the second time, SpaceX didn't quite manage to land a Falcon 9 rocket after it visited the ISS Tuesday, but the effort did yield a cool Vine and super-geeky satirical music video.

For the second time, a Falcon 9 didn't quite stick the landing. SpaceX

SpaceX tried and failed for a second time on Tuesday to land a rocket on an autonomous landing platform in the ocean, but this attempt was much closer to being a success than the fiery first try early this year.

As a result, the brief video footage of this latest landing attempt is literally far less explosive. Fortunately, a brand new SpaceX-inspired parody of the Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars hit "Uptown Funk" out Wednesday should satiate your hankering for a daily dose of virality.

In January, SpaceX first tried to land its reusable Falcon 9 on its drone ship, but the rocket landed hard, tipped over and exploded on the platform. On Tuesday, another Falcon 9 successfully delivered an unmanned Dragon cargo spacecraft to the International Space Station and then tried the maneuver again. If this latest attempt also ended explosively, SpaceX has yet to be forthcoming with those images. What we have seen is the below Vine of the landing attempt just moments before the rocket apparently tipped over.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk explained on Twitter that the rocket came close to nailing the landing, but basically landed off balance and fell over.

This surely is a disappointment to the billionaire, who also tweeted just before the landing attempt: "If this works, I'm treating myself to a volcano lair. It's time."

I'd definitely rather see that than a recyclable rocket.

While the latest landing attempt didn't yield a success or even some exciting video footage, we did get that deliciously nerdy SpaceX-themed take on "Uptown Funk" from the Cinesaurus folks that goes so far as to name-check the fuel types that Falcon uses.

Elon Musk is gonna give it to ya, indeed. Check it out below while we wait for attempt No. 3.
