Hi and welcome to the Exco Round Up of the Year where today we're talking about March, a month of [unk] to an absolute bang starting with the Ssannyong Korando, Geneva and the Vauxhall Cascada back-to-back and after that, we have the A1 Quattro by Audi, starting with the week from hell.
-We call it the week from hell largely because it's very rare that we are shooting solidly for about 7
days but that happened, we went out to-- to Europe, to [unk].
Before that, we stopped off to play in a Ssanyong Korando.
Now, Ssangyong in the U.K. is an emerging brand, they make cars that a lot of people kind of take the piss out of and unfairly, as far as I'm concerned so we thought it to be pretty decent to give it a little bit of time in the limelight, maybe to show a bit of people a background of it.
And, you know, we had quite a bit of fun in the Korando.
-It was quite snowy, I threw it around--
-Yeah.
-in some kind of mountain road so and it was a bit icy and--
-Yeah-- yeah and I had a blast
-There was some donuts in the carpark, it was wicked.
-So, yeah, the Vauxhall Cascada, we reversed on it.
We're one the first people in the world to drive it.
You know what, it's a good car.
-The price point is very impressive, it's not a bad looking car--
-No.
But their big thing was, yeah, we're gonna take on the more executive
convertible so maybe you're looking an Audi '05, maybe no, don't buy your Audi '05, buy a Vauxhall.
They haven't thought of it 'cause all the marketing in the world is not gonna change people's minds.
I don't care if it's 8 grand cheaper or it or if it's the same quality with the cloth of the roof.
The roof is like--
-The cloth quality's not really what sells cars
-Yeah, that's not what sells cars.
The roof, apparently, had some kind of mega-layerage that made everything extra-quiet and extra-dry and it wouldn't leak and etcetera which is great but at the same time Audi Vauxhall, Audi Vauxhall--
-Audi, everytime.
-Audi Vauxhall.
-Can I get the question again?
-Audi Vauxhall.
-What was the middle one?
-Audi.
-But I mean we did have quite a lot of fun-- well, I certainly did, chucking around [unk] Napoleon, it was no sports car but we--
-Yeah.
And, we ended up in Monaco which is kind of cool.
-Although, in Casino Square, there were probably, slightly better cars to be in.
-It was actually an Audi A1 Quattro, which leads us neatly on.
-To the Audi A1 Quattro, I see a nice segue way.
-Yeah.
I saw one in the real world and the next week, I was driving one.
-There's only 300 and--
-333 made, all right hand drive, all just over 40 grand, they've got the 256 brake turbo-charge, [unk] parts of the old Audi S3, it was a pretty special thing and it's 4-wheel drive and it's got those massive white moon-dish wheels.
-Oh my God, they're rally car wheels.
-[unk] the wheels.
-The rally car wheels just made it for me.
That car is just so cool.
It treally is.
I mean, you mentioned it, it's a miniature-- minature rally car and it really is, every inch of it, the sound of it
the-- I got to drive it 'cause you had to leave early--
-Yeah.
-and I was doing the sound for it and driving through these country roads, I mean nothing was more fun to throw around.
-We had it for one day but it was so much fun.
It was one of those cars that leaves a lasting impression.
-Yeah.
-It was so good.
Properly good little car.
-I just wish-- I just wish that other people around see us drive it.
Basically, just to some friends, I'll be like, "Look at this thing, it's tiny and it's absolutely mental, it was just-- it was feral.
-For such a small car, to have it as a 4-wheel drive was just-- with that amount of power, you had
so much confidence going around corners at ridiculous speeds.
-Yeah.
-70 miles an hour, try it left handed, yes.
Or right-handed, yes.
Oooh, this is fun then all of a sudden the car leaps a little bit over a tiny bump and everything else will probably be like "whoo whoo whoo" that was fun, let's do that again.
-This is as excited as the Exco Team gets about hatchback.
So links to all mentioned in the Round Up for March will be below and we'll see you hopefully again tomorrow for a Round Up of April.
