All right, I admit it, I am a huge vintage Volkswagen nerd.
And I'm so stocked to be here at Volkswagen's Innovation and Engineering Center in California to check out this The type of 20 concept it's a 1962 microbus that's got so much crazy innovation like facial recognition, said my name, and then we come around here to the front and I can even ask it a question.
Are you ready to go
[BLANK_AUDIO]
I'm ready to go.
My battery is 95%.
95% charged.
Now you'll see some cool decorations and design on here, check out these wheels.
So, they've been genetor printed.
So basically that means that.
The Volkswagen people they put in all the parameters in terms of how big the rotor size are, what it actually needed to fit around, and then some of the math, the physics that it needed to withstand, fed it all into a computer and out popped a bunch of designs and they just kept doing that over and over again until they came up with that design.
It's a really cool way of making things look awesome.
Now, of course, That old tour 100CC motor that is gone and in its place is this electric motor.
It's got a 10 kilowatt hour battery, a 2500 watt generator.
It's putting out 120 horsepower and 173 pound feet of torque.
And I might not sound like a lot but I mean originally this had about 30 horsepower, so, I will take the electric power plant any day.
There's also some air suspension, which makes it a little bit more comfortable.
But check out here inside.
This is where it's really cool.
You might notice there is a third pedal right there.
That's because it is a two speed manual transmission.
It's an electric vehicle with a manual transmission.
That never happens.
There's also some cool tech in here with a holographic infotainment system and I really love the whole colour scheme.
They really got it right here.
So of course all of this is leading up to the hotly anticipated launch of the ID buzz which is like their new bus.
We're going to be seeing it in 2022.
And Tim Stevens he happened to get an awesome drive in it.
So be sure to check out that review and video if you want to learn more.
