While many manufacturers have been a little bit slower to bring technology to their trucks.
Starbeck Rivian has going out full whole hog with the R1T that is a pick-up truck that is full of technology and it is fully electric.
The R1T will come with three different battery packs, the largest being a 100 kilowatt hour battery good for 400 miles of range.
That's enough to get you plenty of drive time in Moab.
And that bigger battery pack has got a horsepower rating of 700.
And get this 826 pound feet of torque.
Can you say hello slow speed rock crawling and hello high speed dune running?
Cuz I can.
The truck is powered by four electric motors, one on each wheel.
Now in theory, they should be able to turn the wheels at the same speed regardless of traction level.
So essentially you've got some locking differentials.
And when it's in - Off road got a ground clearance of 14 inches and approach angle of about 34, now that is a little bit less than a Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, but a departure angle of 30 degrees and that is a lot better than that taco.
Now since it's an EV, there's a lot of cool little cubbies for storage, including this awesome tunnel here right behind the seat pillar You put a lot of your larger gear back here, and the door functions as a step so you can get into the back of the truck.
Rivian also has an electric seven passenger SUV.
We've got a separate video on that, so be sure to check it out.
Now the R1T will be pretty pricy, they're expecting it to start at around $70,000.
But hey, there's always that $7,500 tax credit, right?
And as for availability?
Well, you are not going to be able to get it tomorrow.
And you are probably not going to be able to get it the day after tomorrow.
I would say you are going to be waiting for about 18 months until we are able to drive this ourselves.
