The Ford GT MkII shows what a race car can be when you throw away the rule book

Welcome to the Ford performance stand at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2019. Now we've let in here, actually normally I'd be talking to you over the top of an Evans Fiesta WRC car, but thankfully it's not here, it's somewhere up the hill. And we talk about this, which is the Ford GT Mk II. Now this is a pretty special thing basically, it's been developed by Multimatic. And the idea is that the race car is just over there is hobbled by something called Bo p balance of performance, which means it only 490 brake horsepower and all sorts of things you can do to abuse a can't do to it. This is designed to be the sort of the ultimate example I suppose of what's the Ford GT can be. So we're going to build 45 overall $1.2 million plus taxes so syllable like that. What are they done to it? Well, an awful lot. Let's start with the time for was so this has got about 200 pounds or 400 pounds more than that the race car over that says go 45 times more Then the road called the standard road car. That's a wing of the back of a Daytona Prototype car. And we come down here we will see got the fence over there, which is a light on the race car. Then they actually developed a new package for the race car. So you're allowed in various Evo upgrades they put a lot of work in in the winter and stuff like that and then they Subindex so that's all I was just going to kill it with VOB anyway, so when bother putting it, all that knowledge, so the under-floor and the new front special and stuff is all gone into this car here. So we've ended up with that on there which is pretty amazing. And because when front they've managed to keep the whole balance of the car aerodynamically exactly the same power Well, it's now to 700 brake horsepower. But I'm reliably informed that is a sort of how she put this they will easily make 700 meters by I think it's been on and on at 735. So yeah, a decent update. This recently if in fact feeds all the vocalist in there for Our engine gearbox [UNKNOWN] flat, so they're all in there easily packaged together. There's the engine cooling, it goes in here. We got new engine collers, 35% bigger. They've also got water jet systems on them now because apparently the standard 4gd standard 4gt road car potentially just dropped off inpower a bit after say. Visitors have many laps so this is the idea of this was the this will be able to run flat out all the time no problems recording whatsoever. Wheels, right these are machines which will racecars nation which will mission is on the spoke slick This is not on them. This is awesome cup two tires because good we went around the hell and slick But it has a bespoke customer select for this. The brakes have been completely recalibrated on carbon so the ABS is different so you got better braking performance from them. Suspension right i'd obviously stand for gt different right height so normally be up here and road and then it dropped down to its 70 millimeter ride height. That all the way down I think it's 56 or something like that. So this stays all the time at its track height. So it's down there, actually though the underbody which I was talking about before, is taken off the race car. So it's actually lower than it would be. They dropped it down to make sure it still works as it should. Because it's all the way down Alison Germany as well. Previously, there was a spring they use in the normal road setting, but then some torsion bar down there stripped out all the spring, hey presto, they've lost about 150 kilos overall this car so it's gone up by simplified drag horsepower down by under 50 kilos so make your mind up and yeah inside Nicola, you just got a race steering wheel but it with all the road buttons on it the dash and then I got a low tech screen is there for all the data logging you could possibly want it's a pretty cool thing it's a really cool thing is going to be tracking on the obviously and I want to get all if I was back seat Miss Barker a passenger on his way so you got two seats in the mechanical door handles so taken to lectures and stuff like that. So there we are. That is the ultimate expression as 4G to done by multi Matic people the race car and all sorts of other cars you might have heard of as well for other manufacturers they are very very cool people.
