SUVs are everywhere, but why?

Cars
[MUSIC] These days everyone is releasing an SUV from the people that the perceived top ends like Lamborghini and Ferrari all the way down to the mass market manufacturers Jakirah D a big one and the little one thought has a bunch say an Audi VW. Pretty much everyone has a finger in the SUV pi. Volvo even has a few of its own like this xc 60 or the big xc 19 even they really really did the XC 40 all designed to take people to and from wherever it is normal people go church Church, going to church. The facts that seemingly everyone under the sun is making an SUV is causing a great deal of iron in the hard core. Petrichor community. The other day someone praised Aston Martin's decision to make a windscreen less limited run mega car for well, heeled collectors well damning his decision to create the DB x SUV because I'm in their words, it's a pile of dung years back if you had an SUV with a Landrover product or some horrible American input now is pretty much I mean, there were a few others kicking about but they weren't as prevalent as they are today by a longshot see families drove things like voxels fears and Renault espouses people carriers, cars specifically built for carrying families from A to B. If you wanted to Swank around town, you could have, Have a posh German saloon and if you wanted to look a bit swish and a bit fancy when you could have a sports car. And then something curious happened. The Germans who made all the lovely saloon started getting in on this SUV thing. There were huge markets for them all over the world. Not going for them would have been a foolish business decision. So the X 5 came along the Merc ml pushes Chi and all of a sudden there was more choice and it kept going. The likes of the X3 and X1 made things smaller and weaker. Compact, more convenient for people that wanted to use them in towns and then the cou pays came slightly less practical massive cars for people who cared about precision facial hair and design the kitchens and stuff like that. You know X6 isn't Cayan toupees. You being here watching this means there's a pretty high chance that when you see an x six or q eight drive by, you'll say something rude and you may see the proliferation of tiny crossovers close and ghosts and that not on stilts and think how awful they are. What's wrong with an estate? What's wrong with the Gulf Reason this XC60 just a V60 it'll do all the same things for all the same people won't it? Well, yes and no. You see as is normally with These things in our little echo chambers we know the right way of doing things but outside of that everyone in their money goes completely the other way. So well, you think you can get on with a golf just fine and lots of people disagree. See a crossover or bigger SUV gives a higher driving position which makes you feel safe. Arrays ride means you don't have to bend to put children inside and sure an MPV would be more practical that they don't come with an image but a crossover will give you and people are loving them. A few years Ago I was on the SAT around the launch and a man came out on the stage and said that the small SUV the crossover market had grown 800% in the last five years 800% that is insane. That is a massive number. And then you take a look at admittedly UK sales figures for crossovers and SUV. In 2015, the June purpose segment which is where they live, so 350,000 cars in 2019 over 560,000 cars, and that's not all of them. Some of the DV crossovers exists In different segments, the Rolls Royce attributes 40% of it's2019 sales to the covenantg SUV and 80% of those people were new to the brand. See on the top end, the man with the Aventador wants to take his family out in his Lamborghini, but he can't because the supercar only has two seats. A juris comes with more seats and silly performance and the right bach The person in the Cullinan well that car stands a far better chance of being able to cover all the grounds fields and all the Phantom. SUVs do tend to be slightly less aerodynamically efficient than say a smaller lower car and they tend to be heavier and And but the reason they exist in their vast numbers is because you the internet or people you know have gone out and bought them you can complain all you want but you will Went out and you bought your Vox, your X4s, your XC60s, your Q5s, all of it. You went out and did it because people wants them. These are designed to make your life easier and you know what? For so many people, they do. And after all it's your money.
