Stasis: Taking Audis and making them better
The origins [unk] a predominantly US-based company are focused very much around the Audi platform.
It was originally started in 1999 by two guys that were very much into the race car scene.
They took a broken car in California, put it together, engineered many parts to it.
And then competitively raced Audis, and
actually became the first podium winners for Audi in the touring car arena out there.
The Audi quality brand-- but as a standard special occasion vehicle have got a lot to offer.
The opportunity have put in performance-enhanced products into the brake and the power train, the suspension, chassis.
When you've found that there's a lot of enhancement to go there, and because of the quality of the build, and because of the quality of the power plant,
you've got some factory tolerance to effectively fill your boots.
And once you've actually experienced the changes that we've put together with these performance parts, you can actually significantly feel and enjoy the full potential of the vehicles.
Audi sold millions of vehicles.
They're not looking for hard warranty issues with those, so they narrow the [unk] and then they-- literally as the Germans do-- they over-engineer
What we do is we look at the particular requirement for the vehicle, the drivability, the performance that we can get out of the engine.
We look at the environmental issues, fuel quality.
And then we design the calibrations, and look to the R and D to stretch the vehicle closer to its fullest potential.
We test them-- effectively test them almost to failure, so we know when we release the production
version of the file, you'll find their cars have smoother delivery of power.
They are reliable, safer, better, possibly more economical, but certainly from a performance perspective, it really brings the vehicles alive.
If we start with the S5 coupe, Audi's S5 is powered by the three-liter V6 supercharged engine.
We've found over the last four years of testing and development with it,
it's an excellent power plant from the performance tune.
So we've got software on it.
We've got a rear anti-roll bar, and fully adjustable torque suspension.
We've also got the six-part outcome brakes with 390 millimeter rotors.
Car in standard form is okay, but it lacks kind of punch, and it lacks handling refinement.
So by putting together the package in, and effectively pulling those areas together, the suspension, the bar to tighten up the chassis, the braking to give you that performance opportunity, the tuning, and combining it with the sports exhaust as well, you get the perfect package.
And we've taken it from 330 horsepower, which is the standard factory, right through to just over 400.
But we've also produced a heck of a lot more torque for the vehicle, so it pulls and it [unk].
The second vehicle is a Q5, so it's a small SUV approach.
And what we've done with that is the two-liter TFSI vehicle.
We've put a bigger [unk] on it [unk] for factory fit to advance the in-line two-liter engine there.
We are also planning to put the anti-roll bar on to stiffen the back end a little bit.
It will have springs to lower the wheels and [unk] sports exhaust.
Again, the 230 horsepower taken up to 320, and it will be very, very responsive in terms of the torque that we're looking to produce through it.
