If you've wanted a three row all electric SUV your choices have been the Tesla Model X and, well, nothing.
But startup company Rivian is hoping to change all that with the R1S.
It is a seven passenger, all electric SUV.
Built on the same platform as the electric truck, the R1S will have three different battery options.
The largest being a 180 kilowatt-hour battery good for 410 miles of range.
The bummer?
Well, that battery takes up a lot of room, so you're gonna have to nix that third row.
If you're really gonna want your full three rows, you're gonna need to go for the smaller, 135 kilowatt-hour battery, which is good for about 310 miles of range or the smallest 105 kilowatt-hour battery, good for 240 miles of range.
And just like the electric truck, the R1S should have plenty of off-road cred.
With ground clearance of about fourteen and a half inches and an approach angle of thirty-four degrees, departure angle of thirty degrees.
Now those are not Jeep Wrangler Rubicon numbers, but they are nothing to sneeze at either.
And did I mention that it can forward about three feet of water?
Cause it can forward three feet of water.
Now we've got no word on pricing yet, but I'd expect it to start right around $70,000.
And this might be some pie in the sky concept, but Rivian says that it will be available in the first part of 2021.
