New Tesla Model S and X getting weird steering wheel, dashboard gaming PC

Tesla Model S sedan and Model X SUV are getting updated designs for the new model year.
Tesla's even have model ears.
I don't think so but doesn't matter.
What does matter are the changes some small and subtle and some pretty big and dramatic.
Let's get into it.
The updated Model S which was previewed at the automaker's fourth quarter earnings call still looks more or less like the same electricity and it's been with us since around 2012 exterior tweaks are subtle including a new front bumper and a new rear bumper and new 19 and 21 inch wheel designs, but the big changes are Let's start with the elephant in the room, that new steering wheel or more like a steering yoke.
It's rectangular design not unlike what you'd see in the cockpit of an aircraft or in the dashboard of a futuristic sci fi car.
Now I'm wondering if Tesla's doing something different with the low speed tuning of that steering to make it easier to do tight turns that parking lot feeds because.
Let's face it, I don't think that you can knuckle shuffle or go hand over hand with a wheel that shaped like that.
Either way, we're gonna have to wait to see what it feels like in person, but I'm guessing that this one's gonna feel hella weird.
Now the new steering yoke doesn't feature stocks for turn signals or headlamps.
I'm guessing that the turn signals are handled by buttons on the steering wheel space and the headlamps, and pretty much everything else in the cabin.
Take the plates on the touch screen Again.
Very weird.
Now, if you can look past that new steering wheel, you might notice that the whole rest of the cabin is also all new.
Starting in the dashboard with Tesla's 17 inch display which has been rotated to a landscape orientation, I love the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y. Now, powering that big old screen is basically a gaming PC's worth of hardware.
It's packing around 10 teraflops of processing power, which to put into perspective, the new PlayStation 5 is rocking around 10.3 teraflops And the new Xbox series x packs around 12.
So this is a pretty healthy amount of graphical horsepower under the hood.
Now in the preview images we see a new gaming interface that showcases a handful of titles, including CD Projekt Red's The Witcher three Wild Hunt.
One of my favourite action RPG's, wonder if it'll play cyberpunk?
Probably not but that's probably a title more appropriate for the upcoming cyber truck anyway.
Now, I'm hoping that gaming is one of those things that gets locked down for when the vehicles parked but I can definitely see this being a very fun way to pass the time while you're waiting for your vehicle to supercharge.
Now on the back of the centre console and available 8 inch screen also serves up entertainment and gaming to backseat passengers.
Complete with compatibility with wireless gaming controllers, because lets be honest, keyboard and mouse gaming and a moving vehicle has got to be a nightmare.
Now, both the model S and the model X, get this new interior, which is available in three colors and both are going to feature finally, the new plat Tufts back trim level with three motors, the model S plan will do zero to 60 in two seconds.
Both the top speed of around 200 miles per hour and cruise for 390 miles of range between recharges the heavier model X plat takes 2.5 seconds to hit 60 tops out at just 163 miles per hour.
And drops down to a still respectable 340 miles of range.
Interestingly, both plaid models Sedan and SUV will come with identical $119,990 pre incentive price tags.
The Model S however also features a new top spec plaid plus trim level that boasts around 1100 horsepower between its 3 motors.
Does 0 to 60 in under 2 seconds still hangs out around 200 miles per hour for the top speed.
But can do 520 miles of range between charges.
That's pretty darn nice.
Now both the New Model S and Model X are available for order on Tesla's website, with long range and plaid models boasting the new cabin and tech expected to be delivered around March.
Prospective purchasers of the applied plus however are going to have to wait a bit longer for the late 2021 delivery window.
