One of the most interesting introductions here at the New York Auto Show is this guy, the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee-- replaces the liberty in their line, but you aren't even looking at me you're looking at this.
That's what's so notable about it, a very different jeep face, kind of a pointy looking thing with just the slightest hint of the traditional sort of jeep vertical slats, but none of the squared off squared jaw
look and these headlights are of course a major design feature that will catch your eye immediately.
Once you get around the side of this guy, you get a big blast of Mazda CX-9, everywhere else except for the squared off wheel arches.
A platform underneath is shared with the Dodge Dart which is derived from an Alfa Romeo so, so much for your American classic.
Under the hood, the engine's all include a 2.4 liter four or an all-new 3.2 Pentastar, though still without direct injection.
Only one choice in the transmission- a rather exotic 9-speed automatic.
Power retractable sunroof on this model, but notice this sort of ragged top treatment on top almost crib for a Fiat 500.
And these running lights to top the fenders are a very bold complement to that very different grill.
The headlights are almost not noticeable down on the chin below.
Inside you can option this guy up with the 8.4 inch Uconnect head unit that now also supports Pandora integrated.
And finally, if you wanna make this guy particularly urban, you can option it up with active lane-departure tech where the electronic steering rack will- steer you in
and out of trouble.
And it's also got the ability to do forward collision avoidance to the point that it can bring itself to a complete stop, so plenty of technology in this guy-- urban styling.
And we're gonna see how it does with a very different look.
