>> Infinity is in the midst of planting its flag in Europe, so they've rewarded Geneva with the debut of this, the Essence concept. It's a big, imposing thing, and not unlike a Fiskar Karma or a Maserati GT. It's front engine, rear wheel drive with a debut of Infinity's own 593 horsepower gas-electric hybrid powertrain. It's based on a twin turbo version of the Nissan 3.7-liter V6 coupled with something called a 3D electric motor, which contributes 158 of those horsepower from a very thin, disc-shaped unit. Infinity is big on collision avoidance technology, and the Essence features a new back up collision prevention system. It applies the brakes when you're backing up and about to back into something. Look for that and the hybrid architecture in real world Infinities soon.
