Use Microsoft 365 Apps for free right now
Speaker 1: Hey, Microsoft 365 costs $150 to buy it outright. Or you could pay $70 a year for the cloud subscription service, but did you know that you can get different versions of Microsoft 365 for free? Well, today I'm gonna show you how to get Microsoft 365 with office apps for free before I get and take a moment and subscribe to C net's YouTube channel for more howtos reviews and tech news from CNET and for tips on getting free stuff like Microsoft 365. [00:00:30] First off, if you are a student or a teacher, you could get Microsoft 365 for free. If you have an active school email address, this includes Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Microsoft teams, and a bunch of tools for the classroom. All you need to do is navigate to the office 365 education Microsoft web address. I've included a link in the description of this video.
Speaker 1: So it's easy to find. Find, get started with office 365 for free and [00:01:00] type in your school mail address and follow the prompts. There will be an auto verification process to sign up with your school address. And most likely you'll be instantly verified. If for some reason your school address is not instantly verified. You may need to wait a while for your address to be verified with your school before you can access the Microsoft office apps. If you're a recent college grad, you, it, you could hang onto your Microsoft 365 apps and get office 365 personal for $12 for 12 months. I've [00:01:30] included a link in the description of signup for office 365 personal. Also this includes one terabyte of cloud storage for a year. People just wanna point that out. Now, if you're not a call student and you didn't just recently graduate from kids knowledge, you can sign up to get a free one month trial to try out Microsoft 365.
Speaker 1: That's a good chunk of time to test it out. Kick the tires, maybe get that big project done before the trial runs out. Who knows the only caveat is when you sign up for the [00:02:00] free trial, you have to cough up your credit card and don't cancel it before the trial ends. You'll be charged a hundred dollars for a one year subscription to Microsoft, 365 family formally known as office 365 homes. So just make sure you cancel that trial before that time is up. I usually set a reminder on my phone to cancel the day before the trial is up, which is worked out well for me. Now, if your trial runs out and you're actually kind of bummed because you actually like using it, but it's just too expensive. You don't [00:02:30] wanna fork over that big chunk of change to buy it outright. There is another way to get Microsoft 365 for free.
Speaker 1: You could get many of the basic Microsoft apps, including word Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, outlook, and Skype. We're free by going to office.com. Once you're at office.com, log in with your Microsoft account. If you don't already have one, then you can create one for free. If you're not sure if you have a Microsoft account, if you have a windows Skype or Xbox live account, then [00:03:00] you for sure have an active Microsoft account. Once you're successfully logged into office.com, then you simply select the app you want to use and then get started when you're done, you can save your work to OneDrive where it will live in the cloud. Now it's worth mentioning that these are limited versions of the applications. They do not have the full functionality of the paid versions of the Microsoft office apps. And these apps only run in a web browser and require internet access to access them in the cloud.
Speaker 1: If you offline, you ain't [00:03:30] using these apps, but on the bright side, having cloud access makes it super easy to share links and collaborate with others, which is a big benefit plus it's free, which is better than not free. So there's a few ways for you to get Microsoft 365 for free today. If you found this video helpful, then like, and subscribe to CNET YouTube channel for more videos like this one, and check out the description of this video for links to sign up for Microsoft 365 for free or paid or whatever you want to. [00:04:00] And thanks for watching.
