Airstream goes into the future with Smart Control Technology
Airstream has always been the retro cool of trailers with their sleek aluminum silver bullet exterior and an interior that is loaded with technology.
Well, now they're bringing a little bit of the future into the mix on all 2019 classic models with their smart control technology.
This new technology connects owners to their RVs through what else?
Now we've seen this before with cars.
But it's pretty rare on an RV.
But here it's just a little bit different.
You see, instead of using just their regular bluetooth connectivity, instead it connects over the cellular network so the app can work over longer distances.
Tap the control button on the app, and you'll find different modes such as sleep or away.
These modes will automatically set the HVAC and the lights to preset levels.
Heck, you can even control the awning outside.
Want to monitor your battery levels?
You can do that, too.
Checklists are also available so newbies have a list of tasks that they should complete before taking their Airstream out on the road.
To stay connected, a 4G LTE allows for easy access to campground WiFi.
in fact, I wonder if I can even be boosted, so you can access it when you're further afield.
And probably my favorite feature, the app has built in GPS, so if you hike really far away, you can always find your way back to your airstream.
The smart controlled technology is standard on all 2019 classic models, but those are the expensive ones.
It'll start at $125,000 and it goes all the way up to just past $150,000.
Now, Airstream helps to bring just that connectivity portion to their smaller trailers and they're also testing out a voice control.
So, instead of using the app you can just tell your trailer what you want it to do.
And as for right now, that AT&T provided data connection, well it'll be free for the first year and 30 bucks a month after that for unlimited data.
