The Ford F-150 has traditionally been offered with five engine choices, but for 2018, the company threw a diesel engine into the mix.
Here are five things that you need to know about the newest addition to Ford's stable.

The 3.0 liter V6 may only get 250 horsepower, but it puts down a whopping 440 pound feet of torque.
It's more than the Ram 1500 eco diesel and in fact if you want more torque, you'll have to step up to a larger heavy duty truck.
Proratings are all about configuration and our tester truck here in lariat trim can tow up to 10,700 pounds but In other configurations, the F-150 diesel can tow up to 11,400 pounds.
That same logic applies to payload.
Our tester can haul 1,476 pounds, but max hauling capacity is 2,020.
Backing up a trailer requires reversing your hand, eye coordination a little bit.
The Pro Trailer Backup Assist makes it easy by taking that switch out of the equation.
If you want the trailer to go left, you just have to turn the Backup Assist knob to the left.
No backward steering wheel inputs needed.
If you've got some open road ahead, the diesel gets better combined mileage than any other engine in the F-150 fleet 25 Miles per gallon for the 2 wheel drive truck and 22 miles per gallon for the 4 wheel drive.
The diesel is only available on the mid stream areas starting at 45,015 dollars, however our tester here with the super crew cab, short bed, 4 wheel drive and some extras like blind spot monitoring and 20 inch chrome wheels.
That price goes up to $63,435 but that includes the $1,395 for destination.
The Ford F-150 Diesel has a lot going for it and should definitely be on your shortlist if you need a truck.
Just be prepared to spend a pretty penny given the most out of your workhorse.
