Speaker 1: Toyota pioneered the modern hybrid drive train, but the giant Japanese automaker has been a little behind the curve when it comes to EVs. That changes next year, though, when the BZ four X goes on sale or the business forks as I've been calling it, this is our first chance to see the production version of this EV in person. Now, just like the global concept that debuted back in June, it's still a carnival of creases and cladding. You may not love the looks, [00:00:30] but underneath all of that futuristic styling, it should be a pretty good EV dimensionally. The BZ four X is a few inches longer than a Rav four, and it has a 112.2 inch base, which is identical to the larger Highlander. Now, this is the first of 15 global EVs. Toyota is launching by 2025. Many of which will wear some sort of Bez name, which stands for beyond zero inside the Bez.
Speaker 1: Four has a very spacious interior [00:01:00] with plenty of sting and high quality materials. You also get a standard 12.3 inch touch screen on the dashboard home to a Toyota multimedia system. You'll also notice this vehicle has a conventional steering wheel. We're not getting the yolk like in other markets, anywho, this SUV rides on a new dedicated electric vehicle architecture. One that was co-developed with Subaru. And if you couldn't tell the BZ four X is closer to the Soldera than kissing [00:01:30] cousins. Gross. Next let's talk performance. This vehicle will be offered with front wheel drive and a single 150 kilowat electric motor. That's about 201 horsepower. Naturally all wheel drive will be available to and models. So equipped feature, not one but two 80 kilowat dynamos providing 160 kilowats of juice or about 215 ponies. As for battery capacity front drivers [00:02:00] feature a 71.4 kilowat hour liquid cooled lithium ion pack, but curiously all-wheel drive variants have a slightly larger battery.
Speaker 1: One that clocks in at 72.8 kilowat hours. So why the difference? Well, they're actually built by two different companies and the one in the all-wheel drive variant of the BZ four X is specifically tuned to deliver electrons to its dual motor powertrain. As for range and XLE grade front drive BZ four X is expected to offer [00:02:30] 250 miles on a full charge range for the all-wheel drive version has not been shared yet, but I bet it will be a little bit less providing owners with added peace of mind. This SUV's battery should maintain to 90% of its capacity after 10 years of ownership, which is pretty significant now specifics aren't available, but when hooked to a high output charger, the BZ four X can be reduced to 80% in just one hour. As for [00:03:00] tech, a heat pump in the HVAC system helps improve overall vehicle efficiency and the Toyota safety sense 3.0 suite of driver aids helps you spot cyclists in low light conditions and even find available parking spaces. Thanks to cloud connectivity. The 2023 Toyota loses forks, sorry. BZ four X is scheduled to go on sale at dealerships in all 50 states. Next spring pricing of course has not been announced yet, but I can tell you it's going to cost money and heck maybe you'll even [00:03:30] be able to barter for one in all seriousness though, I have been told this vehicle will be very competitively priced with rival EVs, which of course include vehicles like the Ford Mustang ma and Tesla model.
