Now Ford's Escape has been one of their perennials in recent years, but it's completely redesigned now.
This is the new Escape.
It's a global car for Ford.
And as you can see, it's not the stack of rolling boxes it was for so long; no matter how kind of frumply adorable that was.
The big story though is under the hood.
No more V6.
No more hybrid at the time being either; instead, a 1.6
and a 2-liter inline-4 EcoBoost.
EcoBoost is Ford's brand name for the current trifecta of darling engine technologies.
That would be a turbocharger, direct field injection and variable valve timing.
That little 1.6 4 is able to move this guy smartly and still deliver 33 highway MPG.
There's also gonna be a 2.5 liter 4 as the base configuration; not excited about that personally.
Plenty of driver assistance tech can be had in this guy as well,
the blind spot information system.
You can also get the technology that'll do curve control.
It's a torque vectoring system to make corners safer and also more responsive, and Ford's park assist is one of my favorites.
Seen on their other cars, it works really well like on the Fiesta and Focus.
And inside, a new interface for Ford.
They have finally gone through and house-cleaned MyFord Touch.
Sync was a great system, then MyFord Touch made it busy and complicated and hammered their liability ratings with J.D. Power.
Now they've rolled out the antidote, a much cleaner redone interface with better responsiveness.
Around back, you've got an interesting new handsfree tailgate.
As long as the wireless key fob is in your pocket, just waggle your foot under the bumper and up she comes.
And inside, even if you don't buy it in the color of green, you'll be sitting in the color of green.
The interior materials are made from this big bunch of bushels of old blue jeans, recycled cloth, and they say it's about 25 recycled plastic bottles in each one, not stuffed under the seats but made into upholstery materials.
This guy is on the way
out of market soon to rewrite the Escape story and also do serious battle with Honda CRV.
