-Nobody ever called the Hyundai Accent attractive, but Hyundai has been losing its reputation for tacky about as fast as Charlie Sheen has been gaining his. Latest chapter, the new 2012 Hyundai Accent. It has their new fluidic sculpture stuff on the sides that we first saw on the revised Sonata and the overall outline is something like a Honda Fit, at least on the hatchback version. Those vertical tail lights are a big part of its unique look. Under hood, look for a 1.6-L direct injection 4 that puts out 138 horsepower but delivers 40 mpg highway through either a 6-speed automatic or manual. Inside is Hyundai's current kinda a high-techy cabin style, but all around are more safety improvements that you can shake a stick at because the outgoing Accent wasn't a real good car to get hit in. Base price will be about 12,500, loaded up somewhere in the 16s.
