>> The Lexus RX has always been kind of a tech-lover's
favored ride, and Lexus is leaning into that now with
the newly redesigned RX 450h hybrid. The 450h now has a
three-and-a-half liter engine, V6 with 295 horsepower,
up about 26 from the previous car. And it's got some
different technologies in terms of capturing energy from
that more. One captures heat from the exhaust system to
allow the engine to heat up faster and get to its auto
stop thermal point sooner, so it can auto stop earlier
and more often and more efficiently. Which is one of
the ways they make this car very green. If you get the
450h with all-wheel drive, it's not your typical
all-wheel drive with transfer cases and drive shafts.
In the rear you've got an electric motor, slash
generator, that handles the distribution on that end of
the car. You'll be able to get a wide-angle side view
monitor, a camera mounted on the passenger mirror that
scans the whole far side of the vehicle, the part you
can't see when you're driving. If you option up
navigation, it's now going to be hard drive based.
They'll have XM Nav Traffic and Nav Weather. Look for
natural language -- what they call casual language --
voice recognition. But what's really cool is this new
thing called the remote touch controller. Remote touch.
It's kind of Lexus' way of saying, hey, I drive -- up
yours. Here's the controller. It's on this sort of a
hump-back thing meant to kind of fit into your palm.
Although that really doesn't work for me. To me, it's a
fingerprint thing. [Inaudible] across the main menu and
it's got [Inaudible] feedback, so I'm going clunk,
clunk, clunk, as I move across these. Let's go into set
up, let's say. There's an Enter button under my thumb.
Very simple. Again, clunk, clunk, clunk. Enter. This
is much more like navigating a smart phone or any other
type of consumer electronics than what you think of as
the rather arcane interfaces in a lot of cars today.
