You'll never need roads with the Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain 4x4^2

This is what happens when pet projects get the time and effort to become reality.

This car started life as a standard E-Class All-Terrain, which is just a slightly lifted wagon with all-wheel drive.

The engineer in charge of this project then added the portal axles from the G500 4x4^2.

Its 16.5-inch ground clearance is more than you'd get on a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.

The vehicle is also 7.8 inches wider than before.

The 20-inch, off-road wheels and tires hide under carbon fiber wheel arch extensions.

Simply put, no matter where you want to go, this car will get you there.

Under the hood is a 333-horsepower V6.

What's even crazier is that Mercedes-Benz is considering a small production run of these things.

I shudder to think how much it would cost, but I'd wager it's around $130,000.
