This is it: the 2015 Yamaha R3!

It's Yamaha's most affordable sportbike, but don't call it cheap.

Detailing throughout the machine is quite good, and the styling that apes its bigger brothers, the R6 and R1, looks very nice.

A single disc up front provides stopping, squeezed by a little two-piston caliper.

A squat, race-style exhaust looks the part.

Even the swingarm has great, racy styling.

Put any bike on a race stand and it instantly looks faster.

Its dashboard has a solid selection of information, including gear, real-time MPG and a fuel gauge.

Integrated bar risers mean you won't put much weight on your wrists.

Turn signals flap in the breeze on rubber mountings, which means repairs should be cheaper if or when you drop the thing.

It looks the part on the race track.

We had a lot of fun on the YZF-R3, both on the road...
