Waymo's Castle testing facility is where its fully autonomous minivan gets to play, and we got a demo.
This is Waymo's fully autonomous Chrysler Pacifica. Waymo is a spinoff of Google, now part of the Alphabet family.
It is a Level 4 vehicle, meaning it can drive itself in most, but not all, situations.
And these are just a few of the scenarios that Waymo puts it through.
As you can see, the van has received some significant augmentations on the outside, sensors on the roof and fenders.
Here, the Pacifica's entertainment screens have been repurposed to serve as rider information screens.
Just push the blue button and away you go!
Along the way, the van shows you information about what it can see.
The goal is to keep you confident and secure that the van knows what it's doing.
And it does. After millions of miles of testing, the system is incredibly good at what it does.
